Pre-Fall Makeup: 2012’s New Makeup Trends

It’s hard to believe fall is just around the corner!  While we lament the loss of long summer days, outdoor dining, and care-free makeup days, looking forward to fall is always fun.  September means extra-large fall fashion catalogs, sweaters and lattes, and a slew of gorgeous new makeup looks.  We’ve rounded up our favorite pre-fall looks so you’ll be ready to usher in your fresh-faced, new makeup routine in a couple weeks.  Here are three of our favorite looks that are on tap for fall:

Luscious Lips:  Red is always a color staple for fall, but the 2012 twist is a deep mulberry mouth.  Think wine and chocolate inspired colors.  When selecting your color, keep in mind if you have chapped lips, you want to look for ingredients like shea butter which is good for restoring moisture.  To keep the color looking fabulous, buff away any flakes before application with a lip scrub or a soft tooth brush.  You can apply a lip balm before applying color to adjust the intensity.

Bold Brows: Your favorite spring and summer look is still en vogue for fall.  Brows are bold, big, and give a nod towards retro elegance.  You’ll need a good Lash and Brow Groomer and an eyebrow tint, pencil, or shadow that matches your brow color.

Statement Eyes: Whether you’ll be using colored mascara, bright liner, or a colorful eye, statement eye makeup was all over the fashion week runways.  The easiest way to bring this trend from the runway to real life is to ceate a smokey eye with a slightly bolder color than you usually wear or apply colored eye liner.  Use a wet Angled Eye Liner Brush in a fun fall color like deep purple, navy, or burnt orange and draw a small line from the inner corner to the outer corner.  Another eye trend that’s in?  A smokey brown eye.  Grab your neutral eye palette and layer your eyes up with browns, beiges, and chocolates.
