Nothing is worse than popping on a pair of false eyelashes for your amusement park date and then finding one flew off on Space Mountain! For all our looks, we recommend starting with a fresh and flawless face and building from there. Check out our previous post on The Fresh and Flawless Face for a step by step video tutorial. Summer Date: The Outdoor Picnic, Concert, or Street Fair
First thing’s first – outdoor dates require summer sun protection! There’s nothing romantic about looking like a lobster, and you’d had to turn down date number two because your skin is sunburned. Read up on Summer Sun Protection here. If you’re venturing off to a casual, outdoor event you’ll want to keep your makeup looking natural. Think Earth inspired colors: nudes, browns, oranges, light greens, and soft blues and non-sticky lip balms or tints. Try making a smokey eye with greens and browns, or if you’re feeling really playful, create one using a couple different colors. We love this sunset inspired eye from LA Model. To recreate it, apply a warm pink shadow on your lids using your eye shading brush then using this same color with a wet angled eyeliner brush line the eyelids and lower lids. Next apply a light orange shadow cover just above the crease and blend down towards the pink (you should use a second, or clean the brush you used for the pink, eye shading brush for this). Finally, using the same brush, blend a darker orange shadow color into your crease. If you want to make the look slightly more dramatic, use a smudge eyeliner brush to apply a black or brown eyeliner, apply several coats of mascara, and fill in your brows.
Summer Date: A Day at the Beach
Perhaps the most carefree of all, a day at the beach is a date that lets you show off your fun, carefree side. All you’ll need is sunscreen, and a touched up face. There’s no need for a full foundation, so opt for concealer, a tinted moisturizer, or one of the new multi-purpose BB Creams. To give your blush a little extra staying power, apply a double layer. Start by applying a cream blush using your fingers or buffing brush and then apply a second layer of powder blush using a traditional blush brush. That way you’ll still have color peeking out from your cheeks when your powder fades away. To finish out the look, use your finishing brush, found in our Touch Up Kit to blend the two together. Opt for a neutral eye with some water proof mascara, then just toss your touch up kit, a little extra blush, and a lip balm that contains spf into your beach bag and you’re good to go!

Summer Date: Wine Tasting
If you’re off to a vineyard for a sampling of wine, why not have fun with your makeup and opt for vino inspired shades. If you’re a white wine or champagne girl, try a nude colored eye or add a touch of luminizing powder to your foundation – it’ll give you a subtle sparkle. Just remember: less is more when it comes to shimmer or sparkle. If you’re more of a red wine lady, pair your tasting with a chianti colored eye, like the photo above from BecomeGorgeous.com. Although a classic smokey eye would be perfectly at home as well. The most important part though, the lips! Since you’ll be sipping all night, you want to leave the bold lip colors at home. Try this tip from Marie Claire and wear a lip color that is soft enough it gives your face some color, but won’t leave a visible mark on your glass. Not sure what color is right? Try out a few on your glasses at home.
No matter what summer date you’re venturing off too, don’t forget the most important item for looking beautiful: your smile!
